Sangrita

Monday is funday – so I heard in our new favourite cocktail-bar, so after two sangritas at this place it goes down hill and that is now it for me tonight. I am 4 margaritas down and ready to pass out in my bed. Lucky me classes doesn’t start until 6 pm tomorrow… I’ll update you.

I miss you sooo much!!

Cheating our way through a lazy Sunday

Yes, after taking our time this morning in the apartment we decided to get some fresh air – well as fresh as it comes in NY. I bought the best tasting chocolatechip cookie ever and then we went window shopping for wine. So now we have found our new favourite shop for alcohol – dangerously close. Partly accidently we walked past the theatre and decided that a movie could not be more fitting and without knowing anything about it we bought a ticket for Julia & Julie. I don’t know what Meryl Streep was taking while filming this movie but it was still a nice one to watch. Once finished we were very tempted to sneak in and also see Fame so we acted on it and all of the sudden there we were sitting through our second movie. We have no idea if this is allowed since in Sweden you don’t even have the chance to. So 2 for 1 – we like!

Fame – not a movie to recommend tho!!

My thoughts go out to you and your family today (Monday) Ed! Wish I could be there.

School tomorrow, no idea what to expect *nerves*

I miss my funny Felix

My little brother is so funny sometimes. I was talking to him on Skype and aksed if he had read my blog, to which he answered: “not lately” so i tell him that he should so he can keep up with what his sister is doing over in the big country of the west. So he logs on  and starts listing things happening on my pictures and i tell him “you can also read it you know” *sighn* agh “i can’t read all that – can’t you shorten it down for me”. You gotta love him! Boys can be funny ;)

I miss you Felix very much! You might read this post?!

Wednesday Fun

Here I am in my comfy-clothes and it is another sunny day in New York – I blame the drinks last night. Yesterday started with a power-walk in CP to then walk down to Berkeley to get some books, after all it is getting close. And then me and Sanna decided to also walk back and fell into a huge trap as we walked past a bar with sangrias on Happy hour so obviously we had to sit down and have a couple.

This then came down to us buying some wine back with us and a tiny little preparty was born. After this it all went downhill with swamp-water at Brother Jimmys but most excitingly the evening ended with us baking our own pizza at 1.30 am. We were walking home and really wanted pizza but nothing was open so a little deli had to do, there we told the shop owner about our pizza craving and a phonecall later a guy came down and opened the pizza place next door and we got to bake our own pizza which obviously meant us going a bit crazy with the topping. It was huge pizza so half of it is still sitting on our floor. Only in New York can these crazy things happen.

Saknar er där hemma!

Baseball!!

Lost my baseball-virginity!

Yes - I went to see live Baseball, Mets (which apperently did really bad) Lost by 3-11
It was more like a mini-lecture for me since i showed up knowing extremly little, so now I am almost an expert and getting redy to be recruited as a baseball player.
I had a blast and it all came with Brooklyn beer and Amercan hotdog - so that is a happy Joey :)
And as the evening needed to get better we stopped in a bar on Manhattan and I got to have some Magners!
Thank you so much Brian and Angel for an awsome evening.

Today the Swedish girls are going to have a very calm evening in with food, sweets and girly-movies, so I better go put on my pink fluffy hotpants and hooters top - Tack mamma och pappa, älskar det!
Kramar från New York City

Oops

It is way too easy forgetting to update here. I will try my hardest to get better.
Had a brilliant weekend tho, i will shortly describe it for you -  a night out on friday with lots of free cocktails that then ended with bar dancing and clubbing and lots of laughing. Due to a crazy friday night the saturday ended up being a very calm one with home delivery of Mcdonalds and lots of lounging around but we did then go for an evening stroll and dinner at a very nice italian restaurant. Today we did some touristy stuff partly to show our newly arrived Swedish crew member Sanna midtown. After a few hours around Times Square we headed out to Brooklyn to have a traditional amercan Sunday with BBQ and sports. Obviously we Swedes have alot to learn about american sports, so tomorrow i am going with on some baseball... Updates will come ;)
Soo tired now - will hit the bed and tomorrow when I wake up my cold will be gone!
Love!!

Birthday present - Being a tourist

This day was partly planed since some time back, more precisely since my birthday when me and Lisette received a crown ticket to Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. So after registering at Berkeley we headed down to Battery Park to catch the ferry and we skipped our first queue. When we arrived we were given our wrist-bands to get our proper VIP treatment =P We then went through security checks that were tougher then those at the airport and had to put all our belongings in a locker secured with my fingerprint – omg. To then climb what felt like a million stairs and it only got smaller and smaller the closer we got to the top.

But when we got to top all sweaty we were welcomed by an incredible view through tiny windows. And it was only 7 of us let up there at a time cause it is now very limited so we stayed for about 15 minutes talking to the park-rangers – Jon and Ebony. And had a little “photo shoot” with Jon to then get his email because he wanted us to send him it to put up by the Statue of Liberty as he put it “Jon with the most beautiful ladies” awww.

The camera went of all day.. We then went on to go to Ellis Islands – but Lisettes feet were well too tired to keep going so she headed home and I went on to learn some more about immigration to the States which was very interesting.

Thank you soo much Ed, Ann and David for this amazing day. I will let the rest of the story be told in pictures!

Miss you all!

Thinking

The sun is shining outside but I am sat inside with lots of thoughts. It is one of those days when some thoughts catches up with you and makes things feel upside down. I guess it all makes it feel worse because it caught me off guard. I am just very thankful that Lisette is here – somebody’s shoulder to cry on. It is just too easy to think “what could’ve been, what used to be and how should it be”

Being so far away from everything doesn’t help probably but I knew these days would come so its just to hold out and it will get better.

Enough of these thoughts I think I have to put some comedy on tv and not think so much. And I hope the cable guy will turn up soon so that me and Lisette can head out in the sun and have our walk around Central Park.

Miss my Baby!

Put a smile on it!

Rough day

Omg – the price I have paid today for the drinks that went down yesterday is a whole day inside feeling very rough while the sun has been shining outside, a busted toe and an incredible amout of calories passing through my system. But we did have a lot of fun last night so it’s a price I am willing to pay. I got steped on which destroyed my toe, tried my first jägerbomb, went to a nightclub where the dance floor was surrounded by beds and ended the evening with Lisette taking a fall down the stairs at a private party (she is fine tho). So tomorrow we should be back to normal and I am just hoping that I will be able to put my foot in some shoes without crying =P

Soo good night to you all

Tummy ache

It is now just gone 6 am here and for the last 30 min I have been sitting on the sofa with the tv turned down low and my computer in my lap trying to get this tummy pain off my mind. I woke up at 5.30 am and it felt like i hadn't slept at all. I took some painkillers but it didn't really kick in so i just decided to get up instead. It is still dark outside but on the other side of the alley i can see quite a few little flats with their lights on and wonder what the reason is for them being up - I guess most of them are getting ready for work. Not everyone has a laid-back life like me :P
So good morning everyone!

No such thing as boring

There is no such thing as a boring day in New York, even a day like mine now. Been lying in bed all day with my laptop and the tv running, watching the rain come down outside our window. Because even though it might not sound very exiting i can still feel the vibe from the city and there is no escaping the reality of where i am acctually doing nothing. Our plan was to walk around Central Park but when we woke up and saw the rain pouring down and heard the wind blowing we decided to postpone that for a better time – but we will do it, 6 miles of exploring.

And last night me and Lisette hit the Laundromat to get our wardrobe clean and even that felt like an adventure. So I brought my book – I heart New York (thank you Ed, Ann & David – loving it)  and sat on the chairs outside on York avenue listening to the sounds of the streets.

8 years today - we wont forget!

Love

My new hometown!

After our run in the park this morning me and Lisette went home to have some brunch - scrambled eggs and bacon. We then took our time to get ready but without tv since the cable stopped working - lucky us we have an awsome landlord who said he would fix it, so we'll see..... But to be honest my life feels like a movie itself at the moment so who needs tv. Just need to step outside the door and I have million things to look at. There is a great sign of that cause it takes us ages to walk down a street since we want to stop and look at everything - i guess that is one of the things that tells us apart from the real New Yorkers :P
At the moment we are sitting in the cafe of Barnes and Noble using their internet - we are soo happy we found a free Wifi hotspot close to us on UES, so at the moment we are on 86:th st between lex av and 3:rd av.
Oh and yea our adress is: 536 79:th street :) - so now you know where i am hiding out!
This is me with our street in the background always ready with my laptop!
Hope you are all well at home and enjoying work and school :P we are thinking of you! xxx

Internet in New York?

Another day in NY and still it feels sooo unreal! Woke up this morning after a very good nights sleep next to my bed-buddy Lisette and felt a little bit more like home. And for those who know me and Lisette will not be surprised to hear that the first thing to go down was the tv being turned on this morning and i had only turned it of at about 3 am..... We love our tv - don't we Lisette :)
Then we started our morning with a powerwalk in Central Park - it wont stop impressing me!

The picture is taken with my phone - so not the best quality.
Oh and yes this internet business is starting to get a little bit annoying but hopefulle it will be sorted by Monday!
Love!

How more swedish can you become?

IKEA! Yes - we went there today :) No place like home :P
But we started this morning with a run in Central Park and i lost my Central Park virginity :) It was amazing and we are definitely going back tomorrow.
Then we had our very longed after hot shower in our own bathroom - it is incredible how you value the small things here. So now we were ready to head over to what we think is the closest place to home - IKEA. By the time we got there we were soo hungry we didn't even enter the shop before getting our swedish meatballs and then went to get everything we needed to make our home a home. But by the time we were finished we had one table and dresser and four Ikea bags that we were gonna carry on one bus and two subways and then walk like five blocks. I will not hold back so i will say we f*cking rock we did it! Well we got a taxi for a few blocks in the end but that was cause the trip ended up taking us over an hour.
I would upload some pictures but our ( and by our i mean one of our neighbours) is too weak!
Oh and we got airconditioning now - our landlord rocks!
Och förresten Felix och Joppe - vi ska snart till K-mart :)
Kisses from New York

New York New York

I have arrived, I have moved!!
Arrived late last night at our tiny tiny hostel - to make it clearer it was so small only one of us could get changed at one time and only one bag could be opened. This motivated us like never before to find a flat this morning. So me and Lisette got up and had some breakfast at this very cute little cafe to then move on to some free WIFI. Went to two veiwings and turned up (late) to the second one to meet a very nice guy who basically handed us the keys within 5 min an let us move in within the hour without having been paid. It must be karma :) So here we are - newly moved in on upper east side in a very nice appartment. Mum and dad - don't worry the rent is now paid and contract is on it's way!
Me and Lisette have now moved and are heading of for some food since we haven't had anything since this morning and then get the champagne :)
Oh yea, this blogg might be in both english och svenska and who knows i might pick up a third langauge that i can share with you :P
This is all too crazy to understand.
Everybody at home - take care - I miss you all!
